امریکی ریاست نیو میکسیکو کے شہر ایلبقرقی میں پولیس نے کہا کہ انھوں نے چار مسلمانوں کے قتل کے ’مرکزی ملزم‘ کو گرفتار کر لیا ہے۔
سوموار کو 51 برس کے محمد سعید کو حراست میں لیا گیا تھا۔ اور ان پر دو افراد کے قتل کا الزام ہے۔ پولیس کا کہنا ہے کہ ملزم کے گھر سے آتشیں اسلحہ بھی برآمد ہُوا ہے۔
پولیس کا کہنا ہے۔ کہ وہ تفتیش کاروں کے ساتھ مل کر کام کر رہے ہیں۔ تاکہ دیگر دو ہلاکتوں سے بھی اس افغان باشندے کا تعلق معلوم کیا جا سکے۔
واضح رہے کہ یہ اموات گذشتہ نو ماہ کے دوران ہوئیں۔ جبکہ آخری تین ہلاکتیں گذشتہ دو ہفتے میں ہوئیں۔
پولیس چیف ہیرالڈ میڈینا نے منگل کو پیشرفت کا اعلان کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ انھوں نے ایک گاڑی کا پتا لگایا جس کے بارے میں خیال کیا جاتا ہے کہ اسے ان حملوں میں استعمال کیا گیا۔ اور اس گاڑی کے ڈرائیور کو حراست میں لے لیا۔
تفتیش کاروں کا کہنا ہے کہ قتل کی وجہ ذاتی تنازعات ہو سکتے ہیں۔ پولیس نے بتایا کہ مشتبہ شخص کئی برس قبل افغانستان سے امریکہ آیا تھا۔
متاثرین میں سے تین پاکستانی نژاد مسلمان تھے۔ اور وہ ایک ہی مسجد میں نماز پڑھتے تھے۔ افسران نے کہا کہ ان پر ’گھات لگا کر حملہ کیا گیا۔ اور گولی مار کر ہلاک کر دیا گیا جبکہ چوتھا شخص، محمد احمدی، جو افغان نژاد تھا، گذشتہ نومبر میں مارا گیا تھا۔‘
پوليس کی کاروآئی
پولیس کریمنل انویسٹیگیشن (فوجداری تفتیش) ڈویژن کے ڈپٹی کمانڈر کائل ہارٹساک نے کہا ہے۔ کہ مشتبہ شخص کو اس کی کار روکنے کے بعد گرفتار کیا گیا اور پولیس کی ٹیم نے اس کے گھر کی تلاشی لی۔
انھوں نے بتایا کہ پولیس کی جانب سے مشتبہ شخص کی گاڑی کی تصویر عوام میں تقسیم کرنے کے صرف دو دن بعد ہی ایک شہری کی اطلاع پر ان کی گرفتاری عمل میں لائی گئی۔
ایک نیوز ریلیز میں پولیس نے کہا کہ محمد سعید کے گھر کی تلاشی کے دوران ’تفتیش کاروں کو ایسے شواہد ملے، جن سے ظاہر ہوتا ہے کہ مجرم کسی حد تک متاثرین سے واقفیت رکھتا تھا۔ اور ہو سکتا ہے کہ ان کا باہمی تنازع اس واردات کی وجہ بنا ہو۔‘
لیکن منگل کی پریس کانفرنس میں قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں نے ان خبروں پر تبصرہ نہیں کیا، جن میں کہا گیا تھا کہ مشتبہ شخص ایک سنی مسلمان تھا، جس نے متاثرین کو نشانہ بنایا کیونکہ وہ اپنی بیٹی کی شیعہ مسلمان سے شادی پر ناراض تھا۔
